Meet and Know your Public Adjuster

Updated: Dec 28, 2022

Maria E. Shalack is an experienced Public Adjuster who passed her Florida licensing test in 2002 and has settled thousands of claims over her career. She was a founder and co-owner of one of South Florida’s largest Public Adjusting Firms and has handled claims all over the State. This is where Maria gained valuable insights into how the industry functions and learned specific details about how to maximize the claims process. Maria had basic philosophical differences with her partner at the large firm because she believed that the business should not be like a factory of files following the same protocols on each file. Instead, she believed that each file should be given specific attention and treated individually all the way through the claims process. Therefore, she dissolved her partnership in the large firm and founded A & H Public Adjusters.

This boutique-style firm is dedicated to individual attention and treating each claim according to the damage to the property. In other words, a small pipe leak will receive the same attention as a collapsed roof; treating each claim individually enables the insured to receive the maximum coverage available through their policy and repair the damage properly. “It is much more satisfying to know that I have been to the property, seen the damages, and know the insured personally to work on getting them the maximum coverage allowable through their policy” is what Maria said to me about her work with A & H. Maria also takes fewer files and has become more selective about the clients that she represents, which allows her to handle the claim individually.

Maria was born in Venezuela. She came to the US to study and obtained a Bachelor of Business Administration from FIU, then years later she went back to school to receive a Master of Science in Management. She has also completed her certification as a Senior Professional Public Adjuster course, which is a distinction that less than 1% of Public Adjusters possess. The SPPA designation demonstrates that the Public Adjuster has completed several courses that dive deep into policy language, coverage, and ethics, which empowers her and further maximizes claims.

Bigger is not always better when it comes to the representation of your loss. Personal attention yields maximum recovery with a Public Adjuster who knows the industry and the policies that are being issued, the coverage being offered, the limitations and exclusions, and how to document the loss so that the insurance pays as it should. In addition, Maria has worked with many attorneys specialized in Property Claims to give you the best recommendation in case of having to go to litigation.

When it comes to your claim, you can trust A & H Public Adjusters because you are dealing with the owner, you will receive personal attention, and you get the knowledge and experience to focus on one singular objective; to get you paid the maximum amount for your loss.
